Entrepreneurship Education Curriculum in the Universities: A Magic Bullet for Poverty Alleviation in Nigeria
Ayo-Sobowale S.M.O & Oyeyemi Kayode
Abstract
This paper examined the access of entrepreneurship education curriculum on
alleviating poverty among graduates of the universities in Nigeria. Poverty is a global
phenomenon and Nigeria unfortunately happens to be a victim of this ugly situation
as it is among the poorest countries of the world, therefore this paper lays emphasis
on entrepreneurship education curriculum and several challenges currently faced
Nigerian universities in their bid to properly entrench entrepreneurship education as
important curriculum issue. The study also discussed various objectives of the
curriculum which can make our students be more creative thinking, promote strong
sense of self-work, accountability and productivity. Furthermore, this paper analyzed
a model between the entrepreneurship education curriculum and poverty alleviation. It recommended that entrepreneurship education curriculum should be introduced
right from when a child is born to expose him/her to creativity in the business world
so that as they grow they will be self-reliance employer of labour rather than a job
seeker
